The company and almost 4 hectares of vineyards are located in Calosso, in the province of Asti in Piedmont, and is part of the “Vineyard Landscape of Piedmont: Langhe-Roero and Monferrato UNESCO World Heritage Site”.
We are a family of four generations producing wine, from our great-grandfather, Costantino (“Tantin” in Piedmontese dialect), until today. Together with my brother, Andrea, we carry on the family tradition with passion.
Since 2001, all our wines have had organic certification. Our goal, given the limited number of bottles produced, is of course quality, starting from the care of the vineyards to reaching the cellar, combining tradition and innovation:
Our approach…
- Some of our vineyards are historic: planted by our grandfather more than seventy years ago, they still manage to give us excellent vintages.
- During the harvest, the grapes are hand-picked by our family carefully selecting the bunches (without any help from external co-operatives).
- We let the grass grow between the rows and from time to time we cut it with the shredder: no herbicides are used that would pollute the soil and inevitably end up in the wine.
- We practise green manure, which consists of ploughing through various species of grass to increase the organic matter in the soil and the nitrogen content.
- Almost everything is done by hand or with the help of a hoe and shears.
- Before harvesting, we pass between the rows and thin out the grapes, leaving only the healthiest and most
beautiful bunches, so that they express the maximum once ripe, improving the organoleptic characteristics of the wine. - Soft pressing with a wooden press: you get less wine, but you keep high quality.
- Fermentation in a conical trunk wooden tank for some red wines: thus improving micro- oxygenation during fermentation, enhancing the organoleptic characteristics of wines.
- No use of animal origin products, so our wines are suitable for a vegan diet.
- From 2015, bottles of all types of wine have been numbered by hand to emphasise the craftsmanship, the care and the passion that we have for our products.
- Low concentration of sulphites.
- The energy expenditure for the house and the cellar, and consequently the emission of CO2 into the atmosphere, is cut down thanks to the photovoltaic system installed on the farm in 2010.
In short, we will do our utmost in everything to make you feel good!
